august mckinney is a a musician based in montreal quebec. he moved to canada in 2020 to attend mcgill university. at mcgill, he had the privelege to study under many great musicans including (but not limited to): jean-michel pilc, darrell green, kevin dean, camille thurman, and ira coleman. august graduated with a bachelor's degree in jazz piano performance in 2025.

august now works as a freelancer in montreal, performing regular with the maude fortier quartet, mafuba, and facade sextet. he is interested in a wide variety musical styles, and hopes to collaborate with passionate artists of all disciplines.

in addition to working as a performer, arranger, and producer for other artists, august is pursuing a career as an indepedent artist. august's debut ep, entitled "wind", will be released january 23rd, 2025.
